Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I shall have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it, even if I may not have it at the beginning.”
~ Mahatma Gandhi Quotes
“All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become.” - Guautama Buddha
“When I sell liquor, it’s called bootlegging; when my patrons serve it on a silver platter, it’s called hospitality” -Al Capone
There is a saying, "The map is not the territory." Simply meaning that our nervous system must attenuate reality in order to comprehend it, and so we create a map in our minds that, by nature cannot include all of reality. When we learn something new our map changes. Put another way, we gained a new belief about reality which is represented in our brain.
When we are born we adopt a map that is mostly provided to us by the people around us, but as we grow we have experiences that shift our experience of reality (our beliefs).
t some point, if you agree with the sentiments in the quotes above, you must decide what you want to believe about reality and then update your map accordingly. This is the ultimate creative force of human beings and it is super cool!
Don't simply say, "I can't" and act like you are being a realist. Your looking at your map just like I am looking at mine. What do you want to believe, so that you can create the life you desire?
Now, go ahead and make the necessary updates to your map. And let me know if you feel like you might need some help
